Leather Look Jacket – Primark £14.00

Jumper – Primark £6.00

Khaki jeans – Primark £8.00

Hat – Primark £8.00

Boots  – Dorothy Perkins £29.00

As much as I love summer, I enjoy changing up my wardrobe ready for autumn and winter. I love shopping for cosy scarves, warm coats and every pair of boots available. I am obsessed with boots and they probably make up most of my shoe collection. This year my new babies are these black ankle boots with gold detailing from Dorothy Perkins. They are super chic and ridiculously comfortable.

On this particular Sunday I went to have Sunday lunch with my family (which was absolutely delicious … thanks mum!). I wanted to wear something a little bit different, but still be comfortable. I decided to throw together all these Primark goodies and came up with this really inexpensive outfit.

What is your go to outfit for autumn/winter?

The Christmas Edit: Wrapping Ideas

I love Christmas and the amazing atmosphere that comes with it. I love to plan out everyone’s gifts and I get so excited to give them out and see them open them. I love having time off work to spend with family and friends and celebrating together. I decided that I wanted to share my Christmas excitement with you all, so I thought I would put together a Christmas post and share with you my wrapping inspiration.

I find wrapping gifts at Christmas can go either way for me. I either love doing it and I try to make everything look all pretty or it’s a wrap it up and throw the selotape at it type job. This year I am determined to put some time aside to wrap my presents. I have been scouring Pinterest for ideas of what I would like to do and I thought I would share with you my favourite ideas that I have found.

I have always thought that gifts wrapped in brown paper with big bows can look so unique sitting under the tree. These are a few of my favourite brown paper ideas.

Something as simple as using a candy cane along with your gift tag can show that you have made an extra effort this year. Plus they are really inexpensive and can be picked up in most shops. I am also obsessed with cellophane is one of my favourite things to wrap presents in; it instantly makes any present look more luxurious. The best part is that you can tie it with all sorts of ribbon and tags.

Finally, I really like the idea of gifts wrapped with a colour scheme or theme. The gifts look so pretty together under the tree. The best part is that all of these little things can be picked up in lots of different shops are usually fairly inexpensive. I cant wait to decide on an idea and get wrapping,

How do you like to wrap gifts? Let me know in the comments if you have any more ideas.

Monochrome Staples

DSC00378DSC00390DSC00385

When it comes to the colder months I am usually the girl who wears navy, tan and brown all winter long. For the past few years I haven’t really ventured into buying anything else. This year I was oddly attracted to all the monochrome pieces and wanted to buy it all. I recently invested in this coat from Tesco, which I instantly fell in love with. It has gorgeous detailing, pretty silver hardware and can be thrown on with so many outfits.

In the winter a coat is normally one of the main features of any outfit, especially if your like me and freeze all the time. This meant I had a good excuse to buy a few pieces to wear with my coat. My next purchase was this gorgeous pair of ankle boots from Dorothy Perkins. They are so comfortable, perfect for shopping all day and look really smart.

Finally, I decided to finish off some of my outfits with a hat. I love this floppy hat that I found in Primark. Again it is really easy to style, but can make such a difference to any outfit.

Below are a few photos of how I styled my coat for a busy day of Christmas shopping.

Next Blogger Network Event #NBNevent

Last week I was kindly invited by Next to attend their blogger network event at the The Soho Hotel in London. On Monday night I was a little unsure whether to go as I was feeling really unwell, but when the 4am start came around I was super excited and didn’t want to miss my opportunity to go (little did I know that I had laryngitis at the time). I dosed myself up with medicine, bundled myself onto the bus and before I knew it I was in central London.

The beautiful hotel was just off Oxford Street and I was greeted by the lovely Next team when I arrived. Still being fairly new to blogging, I didn’t know anyone else who was going and I instantly made some amazing new friends; Lizzy and Helen.

The Next team had arranged for a panel including Sammie Maria from Beauty Crush, Danielle Peazer from Idle Lane, Jen Stanbrook from Love Chic Living and Rosie Fortescue from Made in Chelsea to give us their top tips and advice on all things blogging, YouTube and Pinterest. We were also able to ask lots of questions and it was great to see that other bloggers had the same questions and struggles as me.

On top of all the fantastic advice, the Next team also made sure that there was a constant supply of delicious food on offer, along with some of the prettiest cocktails I have ever seen. At the end of the day they also gifted us with a gorgeous goodie bag.

I left the event brimming with ideas and feeling really inspired. I couldn’t wait to get home and write down all of my ideas and get planning. Thank you to the amazing team at Next for inviting me and for arranging such a fantastic day!

Log Cabin Getaway – The Sherwood Forest

Ryan and I went to the Sherwood Forest last weekend for a long weekend stay at a log cabin. We like to go somewhere different each winter and this year we stayed at the Sherwood Castle park in Rufford. The cabins and the local surroundings were so picturesque and it is definitely somewhere I would like to go again.

We left on Friday morning and traveled up in the pouring rain. We checked in and found our little cabin complete with log burner that Ryan started before we had even unloaded the car. We then popped to Tesco to stock up on goodies before cosying up and chilling out in front of the fire and eating our body weight in snacks.

On Saturday we decided to head to the Meadowhall shopping center in Sheffield to do some Christmas shopping. It had a great mix of shops including a huge Victoria Secret store; which I must have spent hours in. I also then managed to drag Ryan round the huge Next home store whilst mentally buying literally everything in the store. He didn’t mind too much once he realised we could have black forest hot chocolates in the Costa they had upstairs.

On Sunday we headed to the Sherwood Forest Country Park and decided to do the 3 1/2 mile walk. We wandered along for about ten minutes before getting out the cameras and taking lots of silly photos. After trying to find our way around the forest we finished the walk by checking out the major oak tree which was huuuuge! Again we finished the day by cosying up in front of the fire and watching my all time favourite Christmas film Elf.

Monday meant packing up and heading back to reality (sad faces). We ended our weekend by stopping for dinner at a lovely pub near where we live and again ate lots more than we should have. We had a fantastic time away and really enjoyed staying in the Sherwood Forest. I would highly recommend Sherwood Castle park/log cabins; it was fantastic value for money and you cannot fault the amazing log burner.

What’s On My Instagram – October

I hold my hands up and will admit that I am an Instagram addict; like Pinterest I could sit looking for hours. October has been such a busy month and seems to have disappeared really quickly, so I feel like I haven’t uploaded much on there lately, but I thought I would give you a quick run down of what I did manage to share.

1

1.These are my most reached for items in October, which I recently shared on my blog

2. These are the giant marshmallow ‘boulders’ in our hot chocolate that we picked up in Costco. I am so excited for all the cosy nights in.

3. A round up of the desserts we have had from Kaspas Desserts … As you can see they are amazing!

2

4. I bought my NEW CAR! This had to be the most exciting day of the month probably even year and I love it to bits.

5. Ryan decided to lay his trousers in front of my wardrobe rather than hang them up, because he knows I find it super annoying.

6. I reached over 2000 views on my Primark Haul that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, thank you all so much!

3

7. I am that annoying person that uploads pictures of all my food and this was some amazing chicken wrapped in parma ham with quinoa and veg.

8. I had a major clear out at home and this is how my wardrobe ended up … as you can tell I really need to go shopping.

9. I uploaded my Autumn Winter Wishlist collaboration to my blog a few weeks ago. There are some amazing pieces out this year.

I love using Instagram for inspiration and for sharing all the fun things that I do or see. I would really like to work on making my photos more ‘Instagram worthy’ and I think it will definitely be a goal for the New Year.  If we are not friends already come find me @laurasimoneowen.

What do you think makes the perfect Instagram picture?

My Most Reached For – October Edition

This month I have tried to cut back on buying beauty products, which has meant that I have fallen in love with a few things I already had in my collection. I thought I would show you what I have reached for most this month.

DSC00294

I have really enjoyed using my L’Oreal True Match foundation; it’s great for everyday use and it’s really affordable. Sadly I bought mine in the summer, so as we move into the colder months I have realised it’s a little too dark for me, either way it has great coverage and is long lasting.

Next up is my Roller Lash by Benefit; again this has become an everyday staple for me. It leaves my lashes looking longer, thicker, cleanly separated, but still very natural; which I think is perfect for the office.

If you saw my previous post, you will know that I picked up the Models Own nude palette. It has a fantastic shade range and is perfect for on the go. I love that I can create subtle looks for everyday or I can build it up to create a more glam look.

DSC00285

My Max Factor refined rose lip balm/lipstick has been used constantly lately, I’m surprised it’s not run out. It’s a beautiful natural pink shade that is really moisturising and leaves your lips looking naturally perfect.

The Soap and Glory Archery brow pencil is something that I bought a while ago and never really used too much, I have no idea why because it’s fantastic. If you haven’t tried it yet, I would definitely recommend you pick it up.

Finally, my Collection Gorgeous Glow Blush Block has been used every day since I bought it. I love the rose tint it leaves on the skin with a subtle highlight leaving your face looking naturally glowing. Who can say no to a little extra glow in the autumn?

I have loved using each of these this month and I am glad I have made the most of them. What have you been reaching for this month?

Dessert Before Dinner

Am I the only person who goes out for dinner and looks at the dessert menu before picking my main meal? I mean it’s all about what’s on offer for dessert before you choose the burger or the salad.

DSC00179

When I heard that Kaspa’s Desserts had opened near where I live I knew that it was just for people like me. So much so that I have been twice in the past six weeks … naughty I know, but it was definitely worth it. The first time I went with my little sister who chose the hot cookie dough and then I also went with my boyfriend who chose a strawberry and butterscotch waffle. Both times I have been sold on the Nutella waffle topped with strawberries and it was heaven on a plate. Unfortunately both times I have been defeated and have had to leave some on my plate, so I think I might set myself a new personal goal to be able to eat it all. I’m sure that attainable with lots of practice.

DSC00252

DSC00171

If you love desserts as much as I do I would definitely recommend trying out Kaspa’s. They offer everything you can imagine from sundaes to hot desserts to waffles and crepes. They also have lots of milkshakes and hot drinks to choose from if you don’t fancy a dessert.

Where is your favourite place to eat dessert?
